| When Adam Wingo was a child, he made a regular habitat in the tree tops around his parents home in Olney, Maryland. He played regularly in the trees, having mastered his climbing of all the trees around he found solitude and his calling through this experience, however it took many years to re-discover this magical place in his heart. Many years of different working environments, helped to channel Adam's interests, until finally he found trees again. Having served in the US Army for 6 years, Mr. Adam Wingo of Olney, MD was given an Honorable Discharge. He then moved to Eastern Washington state, where he enrolled in Spokane Falls Community College, majoring in a general business degree program. In his spare time he became a major firewood producer and part time logger. After his schooling, he went on to become a Mng. Dir. of a marketing company, which also owned a timber production company. Being in charge of the logging and residential tree care division, his experience led him to open his own company in 1992. Mr. Wingo, moved to the Northern Virginia area in August, 2001 and started "Out on a Limb Tree Service" based in Fairfax, County VA. |

Adam Wingo removed a Bradford Pear tree from our back patio. All branches smaller than 2 inches in diameter were taken through the house to the street - the only access to the tree was through the house. In addition to the limited access, Adam also had to contend with three houses in close proximity and a brick wall that the neighbors were adamant about not being touched. There was no damage to either the houses or the brick wall. Everything with a diameter greater than 2 inches was cut into 18 inch sections and stacked for firewood. After the job was complete, Adam and his crew cleaned up the site beautifully.
When talking to Adam, it was obvious he was very knowledgeable about trees and their removal (he's a certified arborist). He quoted two prices, one for removing all of the tree through the house (the only access to the tree/patio is through the house) and one for stacking the firewood and removing the branches (2 inches in diameter and smaller) through the house. Adam showed up a bit late due to DC traffic, but got started at once. Adam and his team cut down the tree, stacked the firewood and removed the branches through the house to the chipper on the street. To move the branches through the house, Adam's team wrapped them in canvas, thus protecting door frames and walls from scratches. This also significantly minimized the amount of cleanup afterwards. Once the tree was down, firewood stacked and branches removed and chipped, Adam's team cleaned up the back patio and made it look better than it did before they started working. Overall the project took roughly 7 hours.
Glencannon Homeowners Association Vienna, Virginia:
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
The Glencannon Homeowners Association in Vienna, Virginia owns a 19.5-acre private park. Each spring and fall we have a park clean up which involves community homeowners as well as a contractor for cutting dead trees and chipping. In Nov. 2007 Out On A Limb Tree Service owned by Adam Wingo provided the contractor service. Adam and his 2-man crew provided outstanding service in the removal of one very large tree and several smaller trees and the chipping of dead wood gathered throughout the park. I was very much impressed with the skill Adam exhibited in cutting down trees near property owners’ fences. These trees were on fence lines with limited space to work and he expertly put the trees on the ground at the exact spot needed without damage to property. In addition to the cutting and chipping, Adam provided advice as an Arborist concerning the care of live trees in the park. I highly recommend Adam for his services.

In all fairness I must explain some background on our story, we searched and were disappointed with the results that we got from the yellow pages- The following is fairly long:
We had some problems with our trees, they seemed to be dying. Initially my wife consulted the yellow pages and called several services, out of the 5 services she called, only two responded, their prices were very high and the people didn't make any suggestions, as to why problems were occurring. They only quote us on the job to be done, I wasn't very happy with this process. I sat down and looked for services with webpages and reviews, I searched craigslist and angielist, and of course yahoo, I was surprised how many tree services are here in this area! But what surprised me most is the LACK of credentials most services have, most people doing this dangerous work don't have any credentials. They stay away from professional organizations, they are fraught with complaints anyway so they don't qualify for listings with these organizations. We checked the BBB, there were many companies listed but most had at least 1 complaint or they were "brand new" members, this didn't sit well with me.
Until I came across 'out on a limb tree service', I checked their record, they had been members for years and had processed zero complaints from clients, so I called the BBB to ask if this could be true. The BBB informed me that Tree care is one of the highest complaint fields, and they checked their rec.ords and couldn't find even 1 complaint that had EVER been reported on this company. So impressed I called, I spoke to Adam Wingo, he is the all around guy, he is the president, climber, a laborer, etc... He is a certifeid arborist, he has been working in the industry since the early '90's.
I didn't mention any of my experience with other tree services I wanted him to have a "sterile" relationship with me, I didn't want him to impress me because I suggested it, anyone can do that! Adam was straight forward, he related to me that he was very busy all of the time, and it could conceivably take a couple of weeks to get out to see my trees, and suggested to me that if I needed immediate service that I call some of his recommended services. That in and of itself, was very honorable, especially with the negative experience I already had with other services. We set up a time, then he mentioned that he was an arborist and asked me what problems I was experiencing and the type of project he was to bid on. I told him that our trees were not looking healthy, his response was through an entire list of questions, He listened to my answers, he made suggestions as to possible causes, and even said that it sounded like I may have been harboring a disease but he would diagnose that when he saw it if possible.
A couple of days later, he called me at work, he asked if it was a good time, it wasn't but I knew I needed to speak with him. We talked for a short while, he informed me of the exact nature of why my trees looked unhealthy, he took pictures which he wanted to send to me -email, and he told me the problem, unfortunately it wasn't cure able, but he had suggestions on treatments also, He told me that it could get expensive dependent on the frequency and said he wouldn't recommend this type of treatment, because the trees weren't special trees, they were just trees that had volunteered. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a tree that was going to die anyway.
I was very impressed, his knowledge was extensive, he gave me not only choices, but references to check to do my own research, he told me that he studies all of the time to deliver the most up-to-date material to his customers (he didn't need to tell me that he knew his stuff, I could tell).
He has done his homework, Out on a Limb tree service did an exceptional job for us!

Out on a limb tree service came out to our property and gave us their estimate, I was impressed, because Adam Wingo the owner is a certified arborist and, he found other things that we and many other tree services missed. He and his people were conscientious about everything, the trees that had to be removed were in terraced gardens, he was not only able to remove the tree- but do so without damage to our other plants. He of course warned us that there could be damage, to which he did everything possible to minimize. I would highly recommend his company to any one.
On a separate note, he gave us the options of removal, or cutting into firewood, we choose the firewood but not for our selves, but for donation to people that may need it. The staff cut the wood into chunks about the size of firewood and stacked a giant pile on the curb, Adam placed an Ad, and viola the wood was gone in 10 hours. I mean he finished for the day and before sunrise the next morning all the wood was gone! We highly recommend OUT ON A LIMB TREE SERVICE
We called many different services to come out and give bids on our project, There were many that didn't show up, of the ones that did show, most said that to do this project would be very expensive, 2 companies even said that they could drop the entire tree, but it would damage our garden, Adam came out, he saw the job, he warned us of all the things that could go wrong, he told us not how he was going to do it but it was clear that he came up with a strategy and an order to remove our tree.
I did the research on Adam Wingo, he was written up in the Washington Post, is a member of the BBB, and the International society of arborculture. Certified Arborist ,
btw they changed their number to (866)987-2288
2 thumbs up!
